Ever since I can remember I’ve been intrigued by the face, or rather the person behind the face. Maybe better said, I'm fascinated by the face as a lens that person uses to project themselves into the world.

We have all seen those “head shots” that, even as you are looking at the image you cannot remember what that person looks like. Images like that are so sad because with just a little bit of creativity they could have been so much more. The same goes for many images of food, rooms, or places. Mostly they are unremarkable and usually instantly forgotten.

When asked to describe my photography I say I am an experiential portrait artist.

Be it a fabulous plate of pasta, a shy person, a flawlessly presented feast, the smile on a nervous executive, a fresh bathrobe in a cool hotel room, or a beautiful kitchen they all have the same challenge in common for me. They are all experiences waiting to be expressed.

My joy and challenge is to find ways to “lens” those people or places in such a way that the viewer will remember them, understand something deeper about them, and maybe even ‘know’ them in ways never imagined.
